Employee of the year

Danni Smith

It is with great pleasure that we announce Danni Smith, our very talented chef has been awarded 'Employee of the Year'. This was at a ceremony held at the Civic Offices back in late November last year.
Appologies to Danni and her team for the lateness of this blog.

Nearly there ...

Well, it's been an extremely busy Summer for Bassett Green.

The new building is looking absolutely fantastic and is certain to be an exciting place to learn in. There are a few finishing touches to be made so, until further notice, we will still be using the temporary entrance at the top of the school.

Meanwhile, there have been some exciting changes to the main building too. The main corridor from the hall to the 'old' office has been fitted with a new carpet and vinyl flooring outside the toilets. The 'old' office has been turned into a wonderful new teaching space and will become the new home for breakfast club.

Brand new curtains have been ordered for the majority of classrooms and will be fitted in the next few weeks.

The final two Year R classrooms have been repainted and now look terrific. The Year R team have also been unpacking what looks like a million boxes of brand new toys, games and play equipment. Reception will certainly be an exciting place to work in.

We'll post information about the opening of the building as soon as we have it!

Room with a view

This is the view from one of the classrooms on the top floor out onto the field. It doesn't look particularly pretty at the moment what with the skip; but the view will be totally different at the start of the new school year. The view across the field will be beautiful. It's suprising how high up you actually are.

Remember the Elves and the shoe maker?

Ha! Look who managed to sneak in at the end of the day yesterday!

Like the Elves and the shoemaker, the teachers decided to offer their help with the inside of the new building while the builders were having some tea. I'm not entirely sure how helpful they were though.

The space is absolutley huge because there are no partitions between all of the rooms yet. They will be fitted at the start of next week.

A sneaky peek inside!

No don't tell the builders, but here is a sneaky peek around the inside of the building. Doesn't it look amazing?

It looks like one huge space at the moment because there aren't any 'walls' yet. They get fitted over the coming days.

The space for the windows looks incredible so there will be lots of light streaming into the classrooms. Dont worry though - the new windows are photovoltaic  so they will generate electricity when it is sunny! Cool huh?
